Transparency and informed financial consent

The typical cost for counseling involves understanding the expenses of a treatment or service for individual, couple, or family therapy. We believe in transparency regarding the costs of therapy services, empowering you to make informed decisions, and it’s your right to request cost estimates from any provider before agreeing to treatment.

Is out-of-pocket therapy services a good option?

Paying out of pocket for mental health counseling ensures confidentiality, as no information is shared with insurance companies. Paying out of pocket also means Inter~Growth Counseling does not have to diagnose the client. Using insurance for counseling requires us to provide details such as your psychiatric diagnosis, treatment plan, therapy notes, and duration of the diagnosis, which then becomes part of your permanent record. This information could impact your future health, life, and disability benefits as well as influence your coverage and how much you pay for insurance.

Will I be able to cover therapy expenses with my insurance?

Yes, it's possible, but it depends on your insurance plan's details. Several private health insurance plans cover different types of therapy, like mental health therapy. However, you might still have to pay some therapy costs. It's crucial to go over your insurance policy to grasp the coverage extent and any potential extra expenses. Inter~Growth Counseling is committed to assisting you as best they can in this process, and calling your provider can assist clients with this information as well.

Is paying out of pocket for mental health counseling more beneficial?

Paying directly for mental health counseling might have its perks, but whether it's the best choice depends on your situation. When you pay for counseling yourself, you get to pick a therapist who suits you best, making it easier to reach your goals. It also keeps your private matters private since there's no insurance paperwork involved and you can start therapy right away without waiting for insurance approvals or referrals.
